ISTC Entrance Exam - Indo Swiss Entrance Exam
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam 2013 - Indo Swiss Entrance Exam also known as CSIO Entrance Exam is conducted by CSIO-ISTC Chandigarh to provide admission to nearly 70 candidates (both boys and girls) in:
- Three Year Diploma Course in Instrument Technology followed by Advanced Diploma in Die & Mould Making (4-years) and
- Advanced Diploma in Mechatronics & Industrial Automation (4-years) at CSIO-ISTC Chandigarh.
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam Eligibility
Educational Qualification
Aspiring candidates should have appeared/appearing in Matriculation examination with Mathematics, Science and English as subjects from the State Board/Central Board i.e CBSE, ICSE/National Open Schools.
Age Limits
Those born on or after 1st September 1994 (1st September 1991 in case of SC/ST candidates) are eligible to apply for Indo Swiss Entrance Exam 2013.
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam Syllabus
The test will comprise of questions from:
- Mathematics
- Science
- Aptitude
- English and
- General Knowledge
Syllabus will be of CBSE 10th class or equivalent standard with topics as under:
Mathematics:
- Arithmetic, Banking, Sets, Surds and Indices, Rational and Irrational Numbers, Logarithms
- Linear Equations of up to two variables. Quadratic equations. Geometry; Circle & Tangent to circle.
- Trigonometry. Statistics: Measurement of central tendency, Mensuration; volume and surface area of solids viz. cube, sphere, cone, cylinder etc.
Science:
- Mass, Weight, Density, Specific Gravity, Units, Mechanics, Motion, Force and Acceleration
- Gravity, Work and Energy, Hydrostatics, Heat, I.C. Engines, Fuels, Light, Sound, Electricity and its effects
- Nuclear energy, Earth System and Universe, Matters, Elements, Compounds and Mixture, Chemical formulae and equations, Water, Oxygen, Hydrogen, Atomic structure, Periodic classification of elements, Properties of solids, liquids & gases, Halogens, Metals and their alloys, Electrolysis, Carbon and its compounds, Nitrogen and Ammonia, Sulphur and its compounds.
Aptitude:
- Odd one out, letter, number and figures series, screw threads, fasteners, springs, gear, friction, lubrication, belts, pulleys, levers etc., basic knowledge of hand tools and their usage
English:
- Grammar and its usage, correcting sentences, vocabulary, one word substitution
General Knowledge:
- Current affairs, scientific inventions and discoveries, abbreviations, great personalities, sports and achievements, famous authors/poets/writers, highest and longest, famous historical/religious and archeological monuments.
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam Pattern
The Indo Swiss Entrance Exam will be divided into two parts.
| Part-A | Consists of objective type multiple choice questions. Each question will be followed by multiple answer choices in the question paper and there is only one correct answer for each question. |
| Part-B | Consist of descriptive/subjective questions. The candidate will answer these questions on the answer sheet provided to them. |
Note: 25% of the allotted marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam Dates
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam is normally held in the month of August.
How to Apply for Indo Swiss Entrance Exam?
Candidate can get the application form along with detailed relevant information from the official website ie. www.csio.res.in w.e.f. 15-05-2013. The application form is required to be filled on-line. On successful submission, a Registration number would be generated by the system. The applicant should note this registration number carefully as it would be required for all subsequent purposes such as printing of Application form/ Admit & Attendance card/ future correspondence etc. A print out of the submitted application form with a passport size colour photograph (Size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) affixed at appropriate place duly attested by the gazetted officer/ principal is required to be posted to the Principal, Indo- Swiss Training Centre, CSIO, Sector-30 C, Chandigarh- 160 030 so as to reach this office on or before June 30, 2013 by 5.00 PM along with the following documents:
- Demand Draft of requisite fee
- Two additional identical unattested photographs (as pasted on application form),
- Attested photocopies of certificates such as qualifying exam, Date of Birth proof
- Attested photocopy of Reserved Category (i.e. SC/ST), Kashmiri migrants, physically challenged, wherever applicable.
Applicants, whose application form alongwith requisite fee and relevant documents are received in this office, will be authorised to print the Admit Card and Attendance Card. They can get a print of these cards from CSIO website www.csio.res.in from 09-07-2013 onwards.
Attested photographs of the applicant (Identical with those pasted on application form) must be pasted at appropriate placed in the Admit Card and Attendance Card.
The charges for cost of Application form including examination fee are Rs.1000 (Rs 500 For SC/ST Candidates) in the form of crossed Demand Draft issued on or after 15th May, 2013 in favour of “Director, CSIO”, payable at Chandigarh.
Demand draft of requisite fee must be ready with the applicant before filling up the application form on-line as the number of DD has to be mentioned there.
The valid email id of the applicant/parents/guardian is mandatory for applying and future.
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam Selection Process?
The first 210 candidates (162 general, 33 SC, and 15 ST as per category ranks) will be shortlisted out of the total appeared candidates on the basis of their performance in Part-A.
Part-B of entrance exam will be evaluated only of these short listed candidates for further preparation of merit list for the admission.
The final merit list will be prepared after combining the performance/marks of both parts of entrance exam (i.e. Part-A and Part-B) of shortlisted candidates.
Admission to ISTC will be offered to the candidates on the basis of their higher rank in the final merit list
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam Fee
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam fee is Rs.1000 for general category candidates and Rs.500 For SC/ST Candidates which is to be deposited in the form of crossed Demand Draft.
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam Test Centres
Indo Swiss Entrance Exam is held only in Chandigarh.
